Research & Development

Our strong service orientation, founded on rapid field response to customer needs, depends upon the right mix of advanced chemical technologies and applications.

Research works effectively with sales and manufacturing to provide that mix. SII's commitment to R&D is evidenced in the creation of the Southern Ionics Research and Development Center, an 8,000 square foot complex of laboratories near company headquarters in West Point, Mississippi.

This top-flight research facility has labs dedicated to basic research in surface science, colloidal science and inorganic chemistry as well as laboratories for applications research in paper, pigment, catalyst, and water treatment technology. Additionally, the new center has bench scale and pilot plant capabilities to develop and evaluate products to meet emerging customer needs. The Southern Ionics Research and Development Center compliments quality control laboratories at each plant site.

Major research goals are the development of innovative new products, improvement of properties in the current line of products, and increased efficiencies in the use of raw materials. The expanded R&D capabilities will pay off for customers with the development of products that enhance operating efficiencies and lower costs.
